چکیده

Background Decreased handgrip strength (HGS) and activities of daily living (ADL) disability are common in aging populations. No studies have evaluated the bidirectional associations between HGS ADL disability. This study aimed to explore effects Methods analyzed data from two waves (2011 2015) China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). Low is defined by Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia criteria. Meanwhile, was assessed ADLs scale. The prospective association examined using binary logistic regression. Subgroup analysis were performed according age gender. Results A total 4,902 5,243 participants included Stage I II analyses, respectively. On one hand, low significantly associated with subsequent odds ratio (OR) value developing BADL IADL 1.60 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.23–2.08) 1.40 CI: 1.15–1.70), respectively, HGS. other baseline an increased risk OR 1.84 1.34–2.51) 1.46 1.19–1.79) disability, Lastly, varied among subgroups. Association between phthalate exposure and lower handgrip strength in an elderly population: a repeated-measures study

BACKGROUND Decreased muscle strength can lead to adverse health outcomes in the elderly. A potential association between phthalate exposure and muscle strength was suggested previously, but has not been investigated directly. We hypothesized that phthalate exposure is associated with lower handgrip strength and that the association is modified by the dietary omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. METHODS ...
